Oh My Gosh - The Booket List

Oh My Gosh - The Booket List

Things have been a little quiet around here, haven't they? Well, I think the main reason for that is a lot of my time has gone into The Booket List. So what is The Booket List or TBL as we call it. Well were a group on Facebook full of book lovers, we do challenges and trivia and all sorts of fun book-related things and I am now a mod for this amazing group. If you're looking for an amazing Facebook group with likeminded individuals who loves books as much as you do then lookup on facebook but remember you must answer the admin questions to get accepted into the group and don't forget to mention you know me (Louise-Ellen Hufflepuff Prefect)

Thank You to the author for providing me with an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts off right where the first one finished. Thorne and Candy arrive at Thorne's village, as they travel through the village all eyes are on them wondering who the strange female with Thorne is

It soon becomes clear Thorne is more than just a mare hunter and Candy learns he is considered a king. He rules the land and the people within it.

Soon Candy learns of a tradition in this strange land which takes place every full moon, known as the needing moon. Both men and women become overwhelmed by the need for sexual release. With Candy not being very experienced in matters of sex, this makes her very uncomfortable and says she wants no part in it. Thorne promises no harm shall come to her as long as she stays in the room he provides for her.

It's not long before she's tricked into leaving her room by Thornes cousin thinking Thorne has sent for her. She follows the cousin and its not long before he is trying to force himself upon her.

Thorne witnesses what happens and is filled with rage, after taking his anger out on his cousin he escorts Candy back to her room and the two give in to the needing moon.

All seems well and happy until an accident causes Candy to lose her memories. Meanwhile, Thorne is trying to deal with two villages who are at war and has to travel across the kingdom to these villages to try and resolve the issues. Feeling unable to safely leave Candy behind while he travels he has no choice but to take her with him.

Will Candy regain her memories and can Thorne and Candy get through this and come out stronger?

The plot for this book I felt was even better than the first one, I found it even more gripping and couldn't put it down. I read it in a single day and night. I also found this book answered a lot of the unanswered questions I had from the first book although not all of them.

I thought the plot twist of Candy losing her memories was very exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat to see if she would get them back.

We were introduced to several new characters in this book. I found Ripple to be a wonderful character he's likeable, funny and overall seems like a good guy. I hope we see more of him over the coming books.
Celcee is also a great character, its nice for Candy to have found someone to confide in and a friend in his other realm. Again each character has their own reason for being in the story and has their own role to play.

I did find a few spelling mistakes but this did not take away from my enjoyment of reading the book. The plot overall was interesting, easy to read yet complex and intense. It kept me hooked and wanting to read on. I couldn't put it down and cannot wait for the next instalment.

Blood Moon Part One by S.Yurvati

Title: Blood Moon Part One
Author: S.Yurvati
First Published: Feb '16

Genre: #Fantasy #Romance
Pages: 366
Price on Amazon: Paperback £8.95 Kindle: £2.06 Kindle Unlimited: Free
ISBN: 0692622101

Thank You to the author for providing me with an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Candy has just lost her father, leaving her with her step-mother and step-brother who is entirely too co-dependent upon his mother. Candy just wants to go to art school, do her sketches and maybe meet a nice guy who doesn't expect sex on the first date just because her name is Candy Cane, a name she is forever hearing stripper and sex jokes about.

Liam is looking for a place to live that is within walking distance to campus when he comes across an ad for a flat to rent, within walking distance to both the college campus and his night job as a ghost tour guide.

The flat turns out to be Candy's ground floor apartment. Liam and Candy hit it off immediately and become great friends. Whilst accompanying Liam one evening on one of his ghost tours, a large rock falls from the top off a building missing candy by mere inches. Candy is convinced it was an accident and there is nothing to worry about Liam however, as an architect student realises that the rock that fell is not part of the building it fell from and is convinced it was done on purpose and someone was out to hurt or even kill Candy.

One day when sketching in the cemetery as she often did Candy gets the feeling she is no longer alone, suddenly she hears dogs. Having a great fear of dogs ever since childhood Candy takes off running. She prays the wind will make her run faster and it does. All of a sudden, Candy finds she is no longer in the cemetery, it would seem she is no longer even in Savannah.

In a strange new place she is discovered by a beautiful and well-built man, he agrees to keep Candy safe and take her with him to his village.
Where has Candy ended up and what does this realm have in store for her?

So lets first discuss the plot of this book. The overall story was very interesting and I enjoyed it. However, It did confuse me a little, the first part of the book talk about the gods and goddesses and a game they plan to play using humans. Then throughout the rest of the book, this is not mentioned again. Although I understand this is a five book series so maybe it will go into more details later on.

This book was a slow burner but once it got going I was unable to put it down, it was a real page-turner. I found the plot to be really intense and complex. Overall I really enjoyed the story and cannot wait for the next instalment.

The characters are well written, you have your good guys and your bad guys. The good guys are really likeable and you find yourself rooting for them and the bad guys you dislike and hope they are caught out. You can see why each character is there, they each have their own role to play within the story.

I really hope we find out what Mark is looking for and if he is the one behind the attempts on Candy's life. Also, I look forward to seeing how Candy and Thornes's relationship develops over the next few books, personally I'm hoping for a happily ever after.

I did find a few mistakes within the book for example sentences that didn't make sense and if reworded would sound better. ("Liam was beside himself with the job she had done that gave her a big hug") I believe this should have read ("Liam was beside himself with the job she had done that he gave her a big hug")
However, this did not take away from the reading pleasure.

I found the book easy to read and really enjoyed it, I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Just a quick note

I just wanted to post a quick note to say my mammar passed away last night, after a week of hanging on, she finally gained her angel wings last night. It has been a hard week and all I ask is people bare with me as I grieve

LucyLui

Unexplained Absence

Hey guys,

I know I said I was only taking some time off for Christmas and new year and we'll let's face it its now March and I havnt posted anything.

So where have I been?? I've had some technical issues, as in my tablet broke and I'm not in a position to replace it at the moment, hence I'm only accepting hard copies of books for review at the moment.

I've also had some family issues, my wife's mammar is very sick and we expect to loose her soon, so things are very sad and messy at the moment.

My own family drama has not got any better, I'm still the black sheep and still have no contact with them. But that's all very boring.

So last year I set a goal to read 112 books and I can happily say I surpassed that goal and read even more. Reading a total of 133 books. So this year I have set an even higher goal of 200 books. Which I am currently at 39/200 that's 19% through.

I'm not going to write a review for all the books I've written this year as it's so many. But I will list them and if anyone wants a specific review or has any questions please feel free to ask.
