There are rats in London, nothing unusual about that is there? These rats are not your normal sewage rats, these rats are huge, black rats and they have caught the taste of human flesh and blood.

It's not long before London is overrun and people are being killed by these carnivorous rats.

I was recommended this book by my father-in-law. I really enjoyed it. I hadn't read any of James Herbert's books before, I'm really glad I read this one as it was amazing. Really well written, with a fast-paced plot which keeps you hooked from start to end. The characters are fantastically written too. Which really helps you to feel a connection to them an therefore to the book, making the reading experience all the more enjoyable.

The writing style was comfortable and captivating. The characters are likeable and realistic. A really great read, cannot wait to read the next one in the series, which is called Lair.
