Two years ago one tragic day Julia lost her husband and daughter. They both drowned. Her husband drowned trying to save their daughter Lilly who they believed had fallen into the lake when they saw her teddy floating in the lake. But Lilly's body was never found and Julia believes she is still alive.

It's now two years later, Julia is still broken and feeling alone. She turns her home into a writer retreat, where writers can come to relax and write in the peaceful countryside.

Her first guest is a horror writer named, Lucas. He soon becomes obsessed with finding the truth behind what happened to Lily. Soon the peaceful retreat is thrown into chaos when strange and eerie events keep happening. Can Lucas and Julia figure out what is happening at the retreat and can they find the truth behind Lilly's disappearance?

For anyone who read my reviews, you will know I have read everything Mark Edward's has ever written and he is one of my all tie favourite authors. I love his books, this one is no different.

Amazing characters, Julia and Lucas are really likeable and realistic. I found myself hoping they would end up together and heal each other's wounds as they are both suffering from the loss of loved ones.

I didn't find the other characters very likeable but they each added to the story in their own ways. The writing style is intense and compelling and just pulls you into the story, leading you to believe it's going down one path then launching you down a different path, a great way to keep you hooked. Which this book certainly did right from the start till the very end.

A really great read, although I didn't expect anything else from Edwards. A fantastic writer of psychological thrillers and crime stories.
