Kathleen Paulson is a librarian when she moved to Mayville Heights she had no idea that two strays were about purr their way into her heart and her home. Owen is a tabby cat with a serious catnip addiction, fueled by Kathleen's neighbour who keeps bringing him catnip yellow chickens. Then there's Hercules a tuxedo cat just like Kathleen has a thing for Barry Manilow however, beyond all the whiskers, purs and fur there's something very special about these kitties.

When a murder occurs, interrupting Mayville Heights music festival Kathleen finds herself the number one suspect. But are her cats trying to prove she's innocent?

There's just something about cat detectives isn't there? It just makes you want to read it, well it does for me. I'm very much a cat person.

This was the first book I'd read by Sofie Kelly, I really enjoyed it. I found the pace to be really good, it flowed really well, kept me interested and wanting to read on.
I enjoyed Kelly's writing style. I found it really easy to read and really captivating which I think are really important qualities in a good book.

I really liked Kathleen as the main character I found her to be really likeable and realistic. I really liked all the other characters too, I felt each character added their own piece to the plot and there wasn't anyone who made me think "Hmmm why are you even in this book" which has happened to me before with other books I have read. Each character brought something to the plot.

I didn't think the plot was predictable unlike a lot of mystery novels. I wasn't able to guess who the killer was. I was really enthralled by the cats and their powers and intelligence. I kept looking at my cat (Sleeping as usual) who won't even kill a spider nevermind become a cat detective.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series. For these reasons, I have chosen to give this book Four out of Five Stars.
