Title: Undead and Unwed Author: MaryJanice Davidson First Published in the UK: 2006 Publisher: Piatkus Books Pages: 260 Price on Amazon: Paperback £22.33 Kindle: £2.99 ISBN: 978-0-7499-3645-7 The day i died started out bad and got worse in a hurry. Betsy was attacked by some seriously stinky people. They scratched and bit at her and she screamed and hit them with her purse. That was a few weeks ago now she's been hit by a car while trying to get to her cat. You'd think that was then end of it as the car threw her into a tree and smashed her skull. Well no that wasn't the end of it, Betsy woke up in her coffin, in the funeral home, on the day of her funeral. Things go stranger from there. When Betsy sees her reflection in the mirror she is horrified to see her stepmother has clothed her in cheap hand me downs and cheap shoes that used to be her stepmothers. Betsy always made sure she had designer shoes on before she died. Being dead was no excuse for wearing terrible clothes and out of style shoes. So once realising she was the living dead she does what any sensible person would do, doesn't she? several attempts to kill herself. When nothing works she heads on home only to discover her stepmother has stolen all her precious shoes and she's not having that. After sorting things out with her family and friends, things soon take a turn for Betsy when she is dragged into the vampire world. Kidnapped by the bad guys and told she needs to choose a side. With one side telling her she was foretold and is special and the other side trying to kill her what will Betsy do? I really enjoyed this book, i read it many years ago, but it was great rereading it again. The book has a great plot, interesting characters and has lots of humour in it. A real praise to Davidson, 5* on goodreads and i can't wait to read the next one. This book is so different from all the other vampire books out there it makes a nice refreshing change. Betsy is a character that your either gonna think is quiet refreshing and funny or your going to find her a bit self centred and annoying and in a way she is all of the above but that's what i believe makes her such a good character you can in your own relate to her and she becomes very likeable. All round praise for this book i really enjoyed it and will be moving straight onto the second book now. x
